Black and White

The early masters of art photography like Alfred Stieglitz, Dorothea Lange,  and Ansel Adams  shot entirely in B&W before the development of quality color film and digital. Many artists still do. With digital, it is possible to switch between color and B&W in post processing with a click of a switch. One advantage of doing so is that natural light conditions that won't work in color, can work quite nicely in B&W. I often look back through past efforts to find images that look better converted to B&W.

Back country skiing and snow shoeing was a favorite activity for many years. This is from a snowshoe outing on Tennessee Mountain above Boulder, Colorado

Another favorite activity has been mountain biking. This old truck is located beside the Picture Rock trail in Heil Valley Ranch in Boulder County. The trail is named after the sandstone slabs that have interesting weathering as seen in the foreground  .

Back to Yosemite National Park. This is a view of May Lake from the front of our High Sierra Camp tent cabin. It looks foggy, but don't be fooled. What you are looking at is smoke from one of the big 2018 Wildland fires.

This lazy sea lion is resting near Half Moon Bay in Northern California.
